The story behind Serien

This German brand came into being at the Offenbach College of Design. Two students, Manfred Wolf and Jean-Marc da Costa, had designed different fixtures for a school project. They took these to the 1985 Cologne Furniture Fair. Their success was so great that their creations could be found in over 30 lighting shops within just six months. And thus, Serien was born.

The search for perfection

Serien strives for perfection. The fixtures are only introduced to the market when the design and the technical details can no longer be improved. It's one of the reasons why Serien became so popular. This business philosophy ensures that stylish designs are created time and again and satisfy the highest quality requirements, which consumers certainly appreciate.

Serien is all about minimalism. For example, take a look at the Job table lamp or the SML wall lamp. Both designs stand out not because of their eccentric shapes, but because of their simplicity. As Manfred Wolf has said: "Light is like perfume: really good when it has already served its purpose before people notice it."Good lighting should be absorbed into the room and should not insult the eye. A focus on simplicity imbues Serien lighting with a timeless quality. The ceiling, table, floor, and wall lamps will still look good, even after a decade or two.

Intelligent lighting solutions with a reduced modernist formal vocabulary and sophistication.
